In Slovenian Institute for Standardization (SIST) we are aware of the fact that technical terminology is an important part of the vocabulary of every language. Uniform terminology is very important for correct and efficient application of standards, and it enables mutual understanding in various environments.
ELECTROPEDIA is the world's most comprehensive online electrical and electronic terminology database of IEC. It now also includes Slovenian terms from the International Electrotechnical Vocabulary (IEV): SIST IEC 60050.
Slovenian terms in the area of photovoltaics
Due to the rapid technological development, some of the new terms have not yet been published in the International Vocabulary, or have not been translates yet. Therefore we have prepared a vocabulary of terms in the area of photovoltaics, based on SIST-TS CLC/ TS 61836:2009, Solar photovoltaic energy systems – Terms, definitions and symbols (IEC/TS 61836:2007).
Some rules for translation
The international and also European rules, which are laid down in CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations (ISO/IEC Directives), determine, inter alia, the rules on writing standards. It helps to know these rules when translating into Slovenian, especially the meaning of modal verbs (179 kB) shall, should, may, can, etc.
